Everything you've said about football equally applies to me.

Since my teen years, football, as an interest , has always been #1. Baseball was about #5 on my list, with football filling in #2 thru #4. There was pretty much nothing after baseball.

Not exactly true. I did go to all the basketball games in Cassell while I was on campus, my junior and senior years. Plus I was super excited about the '73 NIT champs. Still have a scrap book with newspaper articles about the tournament. Heck, even have a 78LP (vinyl record for you young whippersnappers) titled "N.I.T.ty Gritty: Virginia Tech". On Side 1 were many calls from the regular season. On side 2 were calls from the 1973 NIT tournament.

Anyway back to football. Started going to games, including season tickets in 1990, when we were losing. Drove from Richmond for the games, then home again, but I was young once. I was a fanatic about watching games in Lane.

Then a lot of things happened. I got older. I started RVing at games. Made many dear friends while RV tailgating. The shear collapse of Hokies football since 2012. The total blackout of any football information during the off season since Whit's hire of Pete Moris and HC Justin Fuente.

Now, I'm quite content to spend football weekends, both at home and on the road, tailgating with my friends. The game itself is of very secondary importance. If I don't go inside the stadium any more is of little interest. Fuente's total black out of information, his total exclusion of fans, has made that transition very easy to do.
